S 63 AMG

  • The standard-fit ABC Active Body Control system is still unique to Mercedes-Benz, despite being introduced in 1998. It uses microprocessor-controlled plunger cylinders in the dampers to completely compensate for lifting, rolling and pitching of the body, and is now fitted with the advanced crosswind stabilisation function
  • As with the SLS AMG, a specially developed Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end sound system is now also available for the S 63 AMG as an exclusive optional extra. With a total output of 1,200 watts, 15 loudspeakers, acoustic lens tweeters in the A and B-pillars as well as a digital sound processor (DSP), it transforms the saloon into a full-blown concert hall with perfect acoustics
  • In the S 65 AMG, the 12-way electrically adjustable AMG sports seats come with the Memory package, distinctive seat fluting and leather upholstery in the AMG V12 diamond pattern design, which also extends over the rear seats and all four door centre panels.
  • The twin peaks at the top of the S-Class range are the S 63 AMG priced at £113,765, and the S 65 AMG, available from £165,120 on the road
  • Boasting a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, the S 63 AMG develops 544 hp and a mighty 800 Nm of torque whilst the larger-engined S 65 AMG, available only in long wheelbase form and by special order, kicks out 630 hp from its 6.0-litre biturbo V12 and produces a mind-bending 1,000 Nm of torque
  • Performance is rapid for a luxury limousine. The S 63 AMG rockets to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds, whilst the heavier S 65 AMG trims this to a phenomenal 4.4 seconds. Both cars can easily hit the electronically limited top speed of 155 mph
  • Economy is improved despite performance gains with the new 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 in the S 63 AMG returning 7.4 mpg more and 103 g/km CO2 less than the previous 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8, culminating in figures of 26.9 mpg and CO2 emissions of 244 g/km on a combined cycle. The S 65 AMG has improved economy of 19.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 334 g/km
  • Subtle styling modifications include a toned AMG front bumper with integrated LED running lights and large air intakes, sculpted AMG side skirts, V8 biturbo or V12 biturbo badging on the front wings, and a rear apron featuring a wide diffuser insert that houses the two chrome twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system, with different design on the V8 and V12 models
  • AMG’s high-performance brake system features on both models and provides ferocious stopping power thanks to twin sliding calipers on the front and frame-type sliding calipers on the rear gripping 390 mm front and 365 mm rear blind-drilled brake discs
  • Both models utilise 8.5 inch wide front and 9.5 inch wide rear tyres to provide exceptional grip. The S 63 AMG is fitted with 19” AMG light-alloy wheels with a five-triple-spoke design and available in black or titanium grey and polished, whereas the S 65 AMG runs on slightly larger 20” AMG light-alloy wheels with a five-twin-spoke design in titanium grey
  • The beautifully finished interiors feature AMG sports steering wheel with aluminium AMG shift paddles, analogue dash-mounted clock modelled on ‘IWC-Ingenieur’ series watches, digital instrument cluster with 320 km/h speedometer, and AMG brushed stainless steel sill panels embossed with the AMG logo
