At a glance

Combining sportscar performance and dynamism with the versatility of seven full-sized seats and a luxuriously appointed cabin, all underpinned by class-leading levels of safety and driver-assistance technology, the all-wheel-drive GL-Class is the last word in go-anywhere versatility. The performance flagship of the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up that includes the GLA, G and M Classes, the GL-Class range comprises the Mercedes-AMG GL 63 and the GL 350 BlueTEC AMG Sport.

Hand-assembled Mercedes-AMG power

The Mercedes-AMG GL 63 is powered by a 5,461 cc biturbo direct-injection V8 engine, which generates 557 hp at 5,250 to 5,750 rpm and 760 Nm of torque, which remains constant from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. As with all Mercedes-AMG engines, the powerplant is hand assembled by a single Mercedes-AMG engineer. Driving through a dynamic Mercedes-AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic Plus transmission with ECO start/stop as standard, the Mercedes-AMG GL 63 will sprint to 62 mph in just 4.9, and onto a 155 mph electronically limited top speed, while delivering exceptional mid-range punch. Combined economy and CO2 emission figures are 23.0 mpg and 288 g/km.

Biturbo induction

The Mercedes-AMG GL 63’s V8 biturbo engine produces its exceptional levels of performance, economy and low emissions through an innovative combination of high-tech features. These include spray-guided direct-injection, twin turbo-chargers, four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment, air/water intercooling, alternator management and a weight-optimised Mercedes-AMG sports exhaust with chromed double twin tailpipes that contribute to the engine’s engaging soundtrack.
